Metric Canvas Grid is a Malaysia-based advisory practice focused on metric design for early-stage mobile products—activation language, retention signals, and instrumentation plans that product and engineering can share.
Why we exist
Early mobile teams in Kuala Lumpur and across Southeast Asia often install an analytics SDK under release pressure, then discover months later that nobody agrees what “active,” “activated,” or “retained” means. We started Metric Canvas Grid to treat that confusion as a design problem: name the outcomes, write the events, and leave a document the next hire can still use.
How we work
Engagements are short, facilitated, and written. We interview product and engineering, draft a metric canvas, pressure-test definitions in working sessions, and hand off an instrumentation backlog. We do not take over your analytics tool account or rewrite your application code.
Who you meet
Sessions are led by practitioners who have sat on both sides of the table—shipping mobile releases and arguing about charts with founders. We keep teams small so the same facilitator who drafts your canvas also runs your working sessions.
Values that show up in the room
- Definitions before decoration. A clear sentence beats a colourful chart that nobody can reproduce.
- Lean catalogues. Prefer fewer trustworthy events over a museum of orphaned taps.
- Shared ownership. Product names the decision; engineering confirms capture is possible.
- Local honesty. We schedule around Malaysia time zones and say clearly when a request is outside our scope.
